The much loved cartoon is back for modern kids and their parents (because let’s be honest, we’re the most excited), and this time round, Nickelodeon and Paramount are treating us old school fans to not only a full new 26 episode series, but another live-action movie too!
We will once again be able to watch all of our favourite characters including Tommy, Chuckie, Suzie, Angelica, Phil and Lil, and we’ll even get to meet some new characters too!
The shows original creators will of course be returning to make the new series as executive producers. We haven’t got a release date yet for the series, but apparently production has already begun, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long! Exciting times!
Omg RUGRATS is returning!!!! I can’t wait!! I loved that show so much and have actually longed to watch it in my adult life but never knew what channel it would be on

Though most people seem to be excited for the new series, some fans are concerned about the movie as it is said to be a live action featuring CGI characters, which some people think may ruin the franchise.
A live action Rugrats movie sounds terrifying. https://t.co/GcA8JwIBOD

A live action Rugrats sounds like something from hell. https://t.co/OmPWMp2R0j

I mean, if you can get past the idea of potentially terrifying CGI BABIES, it’s definitely something to look forward to, because the previous Rugrats films were the absolute best.
We’ll have to wait a little while for the film though, as its expected release date is the 13th November 2020!
In an article by Variety, COO president of Nickelodeon, Sarah Levy said on the return: “Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
Brian Robbins, president of Paramount Players said, “Now feels like the ideal time to reintroduce this iconic cast of characters to a whole new generation of young fans. Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the “Rugrats” crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children.”
And share the experience with our kids we will!
